I ...There's the vitriol we've been missing. I have to admit I get a bit uncomfortable when Jeff goes more than a day without any teary screeching about some fantasy liberal boogieman. Today, it's the "know-nothing" environmentalists. Nevermind that most of us liberal environmentalists are OK with drilling so long as it is done prudently and only after careful safeguards are in place. In Jeff's world, making an oil company pay damages is "punitive" and communistic. He'd rather taxpayers foot the bill. Oil companies, in Jeff's world, are always righteous. God forbid they should pay for damages they cause.

Meanwhile, the liberal administration maneuvers the regulatory apparatus back into place to deal with the difficult decisions - how much regulation? What is the cost/benefit trade-off? What are the risks? Does the spill reveal a breakdown in safeguards? Should we pause some offshore drilling while we make sure we aren't recklessly drilling? While the grown-ups deal with these questions, the resentful Jeff Sadows on the ultra-right wing screech about black nationalist communists have taken over the government and are seeking to dominate the world by scuttling capitalism.Mr. Harris Plutocrathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14272042050207617611noreply@blogger.com
