He can create data out of thin air! He comments that Delhi Charter SChool is "an above-average performer and one of the highest performers in its area despite having a disproportionate number of below-average households among its students," Let's see how that claim holds up to the facts. Dehi Charter has a fairly high SPS, and it IS one of the higher performing schools in it's area. BUT, and a big one here, the claim that Delhi has a disproportionate number of of below-average households is absurd (thought the claim might be magic!) Delhi has 53% of its students qualifying for free or reduced meal prices, while the average for Richland Parish Schools is 81% and for Delhi it is over 95%. Same gaps in the percdentages of minority students, where Delhi has about half of the district average. Disproportionate? Well, ok... it IS disproportionate, but NOT in the way he wants you to believe. In addition, it has a muich lower percentage of students qualifying for special education. If researchers were predicting scores based on these demographics, Delhi would be performing significantly LOWER than predicted. So much for the mathemagician. Does he EVER tell the truth?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214951.post-50696827748976667342012-08-08T20:15:40.462-05:002012-08-08T20:15:40.462-05:00Great point by Bgrober1. His antiquated, often hateful views always come with the faux apology that it's just what the numbers say. That's why it's OK to him to believe in any sort of state-imposed harassment of out-of-wedlock mothers. Of course, anyone who takes morality lessons from the likes of extremist right-wing morons from rural Louisiana should have their head examined.Mr. Harris Plutocrathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14272042050207617611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214951.post-30189111584712108522012-08-08T14:06:44.818-05:002012-08-08T14:06:44.818-05:00"While laudable in intent, it’s potentially d..."While laudable in intent, it’s potentially dangerous when schools overseen by the state try to teach 'character,' for who wants to have Big Brother defining what is character? That is the province of the family, often through the form of religious education, neither of which are part of the state."<br /><br />It's interesting that you choose to make this your stance here, but a few articles back when addressing sales tax you have no issue in using government economic policy to dictate what goods a consumer--if they're one of those despicable poor people to you--can have access to based on your own moral prerogatives.<br /><br />I'm failing to see a cogency of argument. You are pick-and-choose between libertarianism and moralist law-and-order pushing a socially normative agenda. It's no surprise. Interesting among American libertarians is that despite their minimalist talk they would be some of the first to don black shirts.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
